WoW Forever Engineering Leveling Guide 1–300

· recipe data from the WoW Forever beta client 1.60.1.70170

Engineering runs on stone and metal, so it pairs with Mining. Most steps make a part (blasting powder, tubes, gizmos, casings, triggers) that a later step consumes, so the order matters more than in other professions: make what the route says and keep it, and the parts for the next stage are already in your bags.

Work in progress until launch on 4 November. Built from the beta client's recipe data, so numbers can still change. How this guide is made

About this guide

Unlike Tailoring, Leatherworking and Blacksmithing, Forever left almost every engineering recipe where Classic had it. Only five recipes changed colour or reagents, which makes this route the closest of any to the Classic one. Forever's additions are mostly on the side: new schematics, and two camp objects that other players will thank you for.

WoW Forever launches on 4 November 2026, so this guide is a work in progress. Skill colours, reagents and craft counts come from the beta client, so they are what Forever ships today but can still change, and the beta stops short of Artisan, so the top of the route is computed rather than played. Craft counts include the extra crafts a recipe needs once it turns yellow. Trainer locations and learn levels are Classic's, adjusted where Forever moved a recipe. We rebuild the guide whenever the client changes.

Engineering trainers

Any trainer starts you off and most teach Journeyman. Expert and Artisan are taught by fewer, marked in your faction's colour. Hover a coordinate for its TomTom command.

Engineering camp objects

Camping is new in Forever: a campfire built by a cook, with room for objects each profession makes. Anyone resting at the camp gets their effects.

  • Reagent Bot from skill 20

    Sells reagents

  • Repair Bot from skill 140

    Sells reagents and repairs gear

  • Anarchist's Workbench from skill 300

Needed for the most advanced Engineering recipes

Goblin or Gnomish

Classic's engineering specialisations are both in Forever's client: the Gnomish Death Ray, Net-o-Matic and Battle Chicken on one side, the Goblin Dragon Gun, Sapper Charge and Rocket Helmet on the other. In Classic you chose at skill 200 and level 30 through a quest from a specialisation trainer, and the choice decided which of those schematics you could learn. Nobody has made the choice in Forever yet, so treat the Classic rules as the working assumption. For PvP, Goblin Sapper Charges were the reason most engineers picked Goblin.

What engineers bring to camp

The Reagent Bot, from skill 20, is a camp object that sells reagents, which saves every class that burns them a trip to town. At 140 engineers can put out a Repair Bot, and at 300 an Anarchist's Workbench, needed for the most advanced schematics. A camp with an engineer at it is one players do not have to leave.

Frequently asked questions

How do you level engineering 1–300 in WoW Forever?

Rough Blasting Powder to 30, Copper Bolts to 50, one Arclight Spanner, Copper Tubes to 75, Coarse Blasting Powder to 90, Silver Contacts to 105, Bronze Tubes, bombs, gizmos and frameworks to 160, Explosive Sheep to 175, then solid powder, triggers, slugs, casings, bombs and gyro-shot to 260, Thorium Widgets to 285 and Thorium Tubes to 300.

Did WoW Forever change engineering?

Hardly. Only five engineering recipes changed skill colours or reagents, so the route matches Classic's closely, unlike Tailoring, Leatherworking or Blacksmithing.

Should I level mining with engineering?

Yes. Nearly every step uses bars or stone, and engineers need a mining pick for some recipes anyway.

Where do you learn Artisan engineering?

From Buzzek Bracketswing in Gadgetzan, at skill 200 and level 35. He teaches both factions.

Goblin or Gnomish engineering in WoW Forever?

Both are in the client. Goblin has the Sapper Charge PvP players want; Gnomish has the Death Ray and Net-o-Matic. The beta has not reached the level where you choose, so the Classic rules are the working assumption.

What does the engineering camp object do?

The Reagent Bot, from skill 20, sells reagents at the camp. Engineers can also build a Repair Bot at 140 and an Anarchist's Workbench at 300.

Why do I need an Arclight Spanner?

Many engineering recipes need one in your bags as a tool. It takes six Copper Bars, and you make it once, at skill 50.
