WoW Forever Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 1–300

· recipe data from the WoW Forever beta client 1.60.1.70170

Blacksmithing runs on metal bars, and a lot of them, which is why it is almost always levelled alongside Mining. Bought from the auction house, the bars are most of the cost of the profession; mined yourself, they cost time. The route below picks the plan with the fewest bars per point at each stage.

Work in progress until launch on 4 November. Built from the beta client's recipe data, so numbers can still change. How this guide is made

The last 25 points275–300

Forever's compression leaves blacksmithing with no cheap plan for its last 25 points. The only vendor plan that reaches 300 is Magnus Frostwake's Huge Thorium Battleaxe, at 40 Thorium Bars a craft and mostly yellow by now, which comes to well over a thousand bars. The drop plans below are far cheaper per point if you have one.

About this guide

Forever moved blacksmithing down the skill curve. Most plans turn yellow 25 points earlier than in Classic, and the trainers moved with them, so a Classic guide is wrong at almost every step. This route uses the colours in the beta client.

WoW Forever launches on 4 November 2026, so this guide is a work in progress. Skill colours, reagents and craft counts come from the beta client, so they are what Forever ships today but can still change, and the beta stops short of Artisan, so the top of the route is computed rather than played. Craft counts include the extra crafts a recipe needs once it turns yellow. Trainer locations and learn levels are Classic's, adjusted where Forever moved a recipe. We rebuild the guide whenever the client changes.

Blacksmithing trainers

Any trainer starts you off and most teach Journeyman. Expert and Artisan are taught by fewer, marked in your faction's colour. Hover a coordinate for its TomTom command.

185 blacksmithing recipes turn yellow earlier in Forever than they did in Classic, most of them 25 points earlier. A Classic route is therefore wrong for Forever even where the recipes are the same: it keeps you on a recipe after it has stopped giving points. 6 recipes also take different reagents.

Blacksmithing camp objects

Camping is new in Forever: a campfire built by a cook, with room for objects each profession makes. Anyone resting at the camp gets their effects.

  • Sharpening Wheel from skill 20

    34 Strength

  • Anvil from skill 140

    An anvil at camp

  • Master Forge from skill 300

Needed for the most advanced Blacksmithing recipes

What Forever changed in blacksmithing

Almost every Classic plan is in Forever's client, but more than 180 of them turn yellow and grey earlier, nearly all by 25 points. The weightstones also lost their cloth: Rough, Coarse and Heavy Weightstones now take nothing but stone. Nearly 200 plans are new, among them the Blessed Plate set, the Justicar's, Officer's, Prefect's, Sentinel's and Warder's sets sold for Merchant's Favor, and weapons made with Azerothium Bars, a new metal.

Blacksmiths build the Sharpening Wheel at camp from skill 20, which gives everyone resting there Strength in the slot Strength of Earth Totem uses, then an Anvil at 140, a real anvil in the field, and a Master Forge at 300 for the most advanced plans.

Frequently asked questions

How do you level blacksmithing 1–300 in WoW Forever?

Rough Sharpening and Grinding Stones to 45, Copper Chain Belts to 70, Runed Copper Belts to 85, Rough Bronze Leggings to 125, Bronze Warhammers and Green Iron Bracers to 165, Golden Scale Bracers to 185, Heavy Mithril Gauntlets and Mithril Coifs to 225, then Heavy Mithril Boots and Magnus Frostwake's Ebon Shiv and Ornate Thorium Handaxe to 275. The last 25 points need a costly vendor plan or a drop.

Should I level mining with blacksmithing?

Almost always. Blacksmithing uses bars at every step, and buying them is most of the cost of the profession.

Is the Classic blacksmithing guide right for WoW Forever?

No. Forever moved more than 180 plans 25 points earlier, so Classic's numbers keep you on plans that have stopped giving points.

Where do you learn Artisan blacksmithing?

From Brikk Keencraft in Booty Bay, at skill 200 and level 35. He teaches both factions.

What does the blacksmithing camp object do?

The Sharpening Wheel, from skill 20, gives everyone resting at the camp Strength, 34 at level 60. At 140 blacksmiths can build an Anvil and at 300 a Master Forge.

Armorsmith or weaponsmith in WoW Forever?

The specialisation trainers are in Forever's world data, but the beta does not reach the level where you choose. Pick before you reach the split, because it decides which plans you can ever learn.

How many bars does blacksmithing take?

On this route, roughly 300 copper, 370 bronze, 150 iron, 100 steel, 700 mithril and 400 thorium bars. The shopping list above has exact figures.
