Planning a WoW Forever 1–60 route

The cap is 60 and permanent, there is no flying and no level scaling, and nine new dungeons are spread across the whole climb. Classic routing knowledge gets you most of the way and not all of it.

Fact-checked against Blizzard's published details. .

What is different from Classic

Three things change routing, and none of them are about speed. The nine new dungeons are spread across the entire climb rather than stacked at the cap, so a route now has an instance to visit at levels where Classic had none. The new zones add outdoor destinations in the bands that used to be sparse. And the cap is permanent, which changes the psychology: the climb is the game, not a gate in front of it.

What has not changed is the hard structure. The experience needed for each level is the same as Classic's. No flying at any level. No level scaling, so a level difference is a real difference. A mount in the forties, as far as anyone knows — Blizzard has not published riding levels or prices. Those set the floor on how fast anything can go, and they are why route knowledge — knowing which chains are not worth the walk — is still the skill that separates a good levelling seller from a patient one.

Dungeons are now a once-each stop

The biggest single change to levelling is one Blizzard made on purpose. The experience from killing monsters inside dungeons has been cut hard, and the experience from dungeon quests raised to match. The designers' own summary is that the first run through a dungeon is amazing and going back over and over is no longer the best way to go, and they have said the change is meant to end instance spamming and the paid boosting built on it.

So the Classic habit of chaining Scarlet Monastery from the low thirties to the forties is gone. The route that replaces it is simple: collect every quest for a dungeon, clear it once, hand in, and go back to the zone. Every dungeon on the way up is worth visiting exactly once for experience, and a second time only for a particular drop.

  • Pick up every dungeon quest before you enter; several sit outside the instance or in another zone
  • One clear per dungeon is the experience-efficient number
  • Reruns are for a specific blue item or a blueprint recipe, not for levels
  • A levelling service that quotes dungeon spam as its method is quoting for Classic, not Forever

The climb, bracket by bracket

BracketWhat lands hereNotes
1–12Zephras Isle for SkyborneShort; the only new starting zone, and it needs an upgrade pack
12–20Hall of Thanes (13–18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20)First group content; contested for Alliance on PvP
20–30Excavation Site: Wetlands (24–29)Classic's dullest stretch, now with a destination
30–40The Drowned City (35–40), The RivergladesAbove the beta's level cap from here on; Riverglades range disputed
40–50Krol'dok Stronghold (40–45), Alcaz Prison (48–53)The slowest stretch by experience required
50–60Blackmaw Hold (55–60), The Shaper's Terrace (58–60)Gearing starts; raid deadline applies

The twenties are worth singling out. In Classic they are where characters get abandoned — the starting chains finish, the dungeon options thin, and the zones start assuming longer travel for less reward. Dropping a dungeon at 24–29 is a direct fix, and it is the clearest single improvement to levelling that Forever ships.

Routing against 9 December

Launch is 4 November 2026 and the first raid wave opens 9 December — thirty-five days. If a raid seat in the opening lockout is the goal, the plan is not 'level fast', it is 'be 60 by late November with two weeks of gearing left'. Those are different plans, and the second one front-loads the climb rather than optimising its end.

  1. Decide the ruleset before you start — a PvP-ruleset climb is genuinely slower and there is no scaling to soften it
  2. Aim for 60 by roughly 25 November, not by 8 December
  3. Slot the two 55+ dungeons in as gearing rather than as levelling
  4. Book profession and consumable work in parallel, not afterwards — they are the things that get dropped

Self-play or piloted

If you are buying the climb rather than doing it, this is the only decision that really matters. Self-play means the seller's team groups with your character and you stay at the keyboard; piloted means they log in and play it. Piloted is faster and cheaper. Self-play is the only arrangement where nobody else ever holds your login.

Across a full 1–60 the difference is substantial — roughly nine to eleven evenings of your time on self-play. We still recommend it, for one reason: account credentials are the largest risk in this market by a distance, and escrow protects your payment rather than your account. A cheaper climb that costs you the account is not cheaper.

Frequently asked questions

How long does 1–60 take in WoW Forever?

Booked as a service, typically nine to eleven days of evening sessions on self-play, faster when piloted. A quote far below that range is a warning rather than a bargain.

Which bracket is hardest to get through?

The twenties in Classic, historically — which is exactly where Forever drops Excavation Site: Wetlands at 24–29. The forties are the slowest by experience required, despite the mount at 40.

Should I route through the new dungeons?

Yes, once each, with every quest collected first. Dungeon quests now carry most of a dungeon's experience, so the first clear is worth a great deal and a repeat is worth very little.

Is dungeon spamming still the fastest way to level?

No. Blizzard cut the experience from dungeon monsters specifically to end it. Chaining the same instance, the standard Classic method through the thirties, now pays far less than questing.

Can I buy a level boost from Blizzard in WoW Forever?

No. Blizzard has said Forever launches with no paid character boost and no WoW Token, so every character starts at level 1. A leveling service here is a person playing with you or for you.

Is the PvP ruleset slower to level on?

Meaningfully, because there is no level scaling and contested zones actually interrupt. Quotes for PvP-ruleset routes are legitimately longer and dearer.

When do I need to be 60 to raid on 9 December?

Aim for roughly 25 November, leaving two weeks for pre-raid gearing. Being 60 on 8 December is being 60 too late.
