WoW Forever has a fourteen-rank honour track. Blizzard told Kotaku that a player will be able to reach rank 14 within a season or patch cycle. The track carries cosmetic rewards and PvP armour with real stats on it, rather than being purely cosmetic.
If you played Classic, the significant word in that paragraph is 'season'. Classic's rank 14 was a competitive, decaying grind that took months of near-full-time play and was widely regarded as one of the most punishing systems the game ever shipped. A fourteen-rank track clearable in a patch cycle is a fundamentally different proposition.
The other half of 'season' is that it ends. As Blizzard has described it, each new season or content patch starts everyone back at rank 1, with a fresh climb to 14 and fresh rewards. A rank is therefore something you hold for a season rather than for good, which is the first thing to weigh before paying for one.
What is not confirmed, and why it matters commercially
Those gaps are not academic. Competitors are already selling Rank 14 pre-orders against rules nobody has published, which means they are pricing an unknown quantity of work. The honest structure for a pre-launch rank order is a pre-order that activates when the rules are known and refunds if the system does not land as expected — and that is what the rank push listings on this site are asked to state.
Where honour comes from
Four battlegrounds are confirmed. Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley all return. Darkspear Islands is new: a 15v15 map off the coast of Kalimdor, built around control points with Arathi-style flag capture, which Blizzard has described as modelled on Eye of the Storm.
Two structural rules shape every hour of that. There is no cross-faction grouping, so any group you play with or buy from must be on your faction. And the PvP ruleset runs Season-of-Discovery-style faction balance, which affects queue times and therefore how much honour fits into an evening.
The Legacy interaction worth doing first
The Legacy System's Resourcefulness tree contains For Great Honor, a perk giving +2% honour per rank, up to 10%. Legacy Points are account-wide — 65 earnable at launch, 16 spendable per character — and PvP is one of the ways to earn them: reaching ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14 is a point each, and so is reaching Exalted with each of the four battleground factions.
The practical consequence: if you intend to buy honour in volume, putting Legacy points into that perk first improves the return on every session you pay for afterwards. It is a cheap thing to do before an expensive order, and it is the sort of sequencing a seller planning your schedule should raise unprompted.
The 2027 roadmap
Blizzard's published roadmap includes a PvP refresh in spring 2027 and further PvP season work in summer 2027. What a season refresh does to ranks, honour or gear has not been described. For anyone weighing a long rank push, that is worth factoring in: the value of a rank depends partly on how long it lasts, and nobody yet knows how Forever's seasons handle that.
