WoW Forever Mining Leveling Guide 1–300
· recipe data from the WoW Forever beta client 1.60.1.70170
Mining levels by mining: every vein you open gives a skill point while it is orange, which lasts until your skill is 25 past the vein's requirement, and an occasional one until 100 past. So the route is a list of zones, moving on each time the veins you can reach start to go green. Smelting gives points too, and it is the one part of mining you can do in a city.
Work in progress until launch on 4 November. Built from the beta client's recipe data, so numbers can still change. How this guide is made

Mining route by skill
- 1–65, Copper: any starting zone works, and Durotar, Westfall, Loch Modan and the Wetlands have the most veins. Train Journeyman at 50.
- 65–125, Tin, plus Silver from 75: the Wetlands, Loch Modan, Duskwood, Silverpine Forest and Redridge Mountains. Smelt Bronze from 65 for cheap points in town. Train Expert at 125.
- 125–175, Iron, plus Gold from 155: the Arathi Highlands are the best zone in the data by a distance, then the Alterac Mountains, Stranglethorn Vale and Thousand Needles.
- 175–245, Mithril, plus Truesilver from 230: the Hinterlands, Alterac Mountains, Searing Gorge and Badlands. Train Artisan at 200, before you reach 225.
- 245–275, Small Thorium: Winterspring first, with Un'Goro Crater, Felwood, the Burning Steppes and Azshara all worth a lap.
- 275–300, Rich Thorium: Winterspring and Azshara. Smelt Thorium from 250 if the veins run dry.
High-level veins share spawn points in the server's data: one spot can produce Mithril, Truesilver or Thorium depending on what spawns. The counts in the table above are for the vein type the data lists, so read them as which zones have a vein, not as an exact total.
About this guide
The skill each vein needs comes from Forever's own client, and it is Classic's: Copper at 1, Tin at 65, Silver at 75, Iron at 125, Gold at 155, Mithril at 175, Truesilver and Dark Iron at 230, Small Thorium at 245 and Rich Thorium at 275. The zone rankings below are from Classic's spawn data, so Forever's new zones are not in them yet.
Mining is also the best gathering profession for gold in the first weeks: every blacksmith and engineer needs bars, and nobody has a stockpile on a fresh server.
WoW Forever launches on 4 November 2026, so this guide is a work in progress. Skill colours, reagents and craft counts come from the beta client, so they are what Forever ships today but can still change, and the beta stops short of Artisan, so the top of the route is computed rather than played. Craft counts include the extra crafts a recipe needs once it turns yellow. Trainer locations and learn levels are Classic's, adjusted where Forever moved a recipe. We rebuild the guide whenever the client changes.
Every vein by skill, and where to find it
A node gives a guaranteed point until your skill is 25 past its requirement, an occasional one up to 100 past, then nothing. The numbers after each zone are its spawn points in Classic's data.

Mining trainers
Any trainer starts you off and most teach Journeyman. Expert and Artisan are taught by fewer, marked in your faction's colour. Hover a coordinate for its TomTom command.

Mining camp objects
Camping is new in Forever: a campfire built by a cook, with room for objects each profession makes. Anyone resting at the camp gets their effects.
Lodestone from skill 20
90 melee Attack Power
Rock Garden from skill 140
Spawns a common mining node over time
Molten Foundry from skill 300
Needed for recipes that require it
Forever's new ores and the camp
Forever's client adds two smelts Classic never had. Pitchblende and Coal smelt into Azerothium Bars at around 275, a metal used by new blacksmithing weapons, and Heavy Thorium Ore smelts into Heavy Thorium Bars at 300, which alchemists can transmute into Legionite. Where Pitchblende and Heavy Thorium Ore are mined is not in the data yet.
Miners build a Lodestone at camp from skill 20, which gives everyone resting there 90 melee Attack Power at level 60. At 140 they can plant a Rock Garden, which grows a common mining node over time, and at 300 a Molten Foundry, which some recipes need.

Frequently asked questions
Where do you level mining in WoW Forever?
Copper in the starting zones to 65, Tin and Silver in the Wetlands, Loch Modan and Duskwood to 125, Iron and Gold in the Arathi Highlands to 175, Mithril in the Hinterlands and Badlands to 245, then Thorium in Winterspring, Un'Goro and Azshara to 300.
What skill do you need for each ore in WoW Forever?
Copper 1, Tin 65, Silver 75, Iron 125, Gold 155, Mithril 175, Truesilver and Dark Iron 230, Small Thorium 245 and Rich Thorium 275, the same as Classic.
Does smelting give mining skill?
Yes, while the smelt is orange. Bronze from 65 is the cheapest way to gain points in a city.
What should I pair with mining?
Blacksmithing or Engineering, which both use bars at every step. Mining also pays on its own, because bars sell to everyone who levels those two.
Is mining profitable in WoW Forever?
Most of all in the first weeks after 4 November 2026, when every blacksmith and engineer needs bars and nobody has a stockpile.
What does the mining camp object do?
The Lodestone, from skill 20, gives everyone resting at the camp 90 melee Attack Power at level 60. The Rock Garden at 140 grows a mining node over time.
What are Azerothium Bars?
A new Forever metal, smelted from Pitchblende and Coal, used by some of the new blacksmithing weapons.
