WoW Forever Cooking Leveling Guide 1–300

· recipe data from the WoW Forever beta client 1.60.1.70170

Cooking is a secondary profession, so it costs no primary slot. In Forever it also carries the camping system: the Basic Campfire Kit is a cooking recipe you know from skill 1, and nothing else at a camp works without a fire. The Journeyman and Expert campfires hold five and then ten camp objects instead of three. If you play in a group, somebody needs cooking, and it may as well be you.

Work in progress until launch on 4 November. Built from the beta client's recipe data, so numbers can still change. How this guide is made

About this guide

The route uses trainer recipes where they exist and cheap vendor recipes elsewhere. Meat comes off beasts you are killing while you level; the vendor spices sit with every cooking supplies vendor. The top end leans on fish, which is why cooking and fishing are usually levelled together.

WoW Forever launches on 4 November 2026, so this guide is a work in progress. Skill colours, reagents and craft counts come from the beta client, so they are what Forever ships today but can still change, and the beta stops short of Artisan, so the top of the route is computed rather than played. Craft counts include the extra crafts a recipe needs once it turns yellow. Trainer locations and learn levels are Classic's, adjusted where Forever moved a recipe. We rebuild the guide whenever the client changes.

What Forever changed in cooking

Forever's beta client compared with Classic Era's.

Cooking camp objects

Camping is new in Forever: a campfire built by a cook, with room for objects each profession makes. Anyone resting at the camp gets their effects.

  • Basic Campfire Kit from skill 1

A campfire for cooking, with room for 3 camp objects

  • Cookie's Feast from skill 140

Stamina food for everyone at camp

  • Journeyman Campfire Kit from skill 90

A campfire with room for 5 camp objects

  • Expert Campfire Kit from skill 200

A campfire with room for 10 camp objects

  • Iron Oven from skill 300

Needed for the most advanced Cooking recipes

Campfires and the camp

Every camp object any profession builds needs a fire to sit around, and only cooks make fires. The Basic Campfire Kit is free from skill 1 and holds three objects. The Journeyman Campfire Kit, which takes Star Wood, holds five; the Expert Campfire Kit, from Thick Logs, holds ten. Cooks can also put Cookie's Feast out for the camp, Stamina food for everyone there, and at 300 build an Iron Oven, which the most advanced cooking recipes need.

Resting at a camp for a minute grants the buffs of every object around the fire, and they stand in for class buffs at slightly lower strength. A full camp is worth more than any single profession's object, so a cook with an Expert Campfire is welcome in any group.

New recipes worth knowing

Forever adds teas made from herbs, Peace Tea, Royal Tea, Root Tea, Triage Tea, Sunny Tea and Sage's Tea, which give herbalists a use for spare herbs, and a set of smoothies sold at the trade camps for Merchant's Favor. There are new meat dishes from Stag Meat, Raptor Flesh, Turtle Meat and Big Bear Meat at the high end as well. Most are taught by recipe items whose source is not settled yet, so the route above sticks to recipes you can buy today.

Buy it ready made

If you want the item rather than the profession, have it delivered to your character.

Frequently asked questions

How do you level cooking from 1 to 300 in WoW Forever?

Herb Baked Eggs to 50, Coyote Steak to 90, Dry Pork Ribs to 125, Goblin Deviled Clams to 175, Barbecued Buzzard Wings to 225, Monster Omelets to 265, Grilled Squid to 280 and Nightfin Soup to 300.

What does cooking do in WoW Forever's camping system?

Cooks build the campfire every camp needs. Basic, Journeyman and Expert campfires hold three, five and ten camp objects, and cooks can add Cookie's Feast for Stamina.

Where do you get Expert cooking?

From the Expert Cookbook, 1g, sold by Shandrina in Ashenvale for the Alliance and Wulan in Desolace for the Horde. It needs skill 125.

How do you get Artisan cooking?

Complete Clamlette Surprise for Dirge Quikcleave in Gadgetzan at skill 225 and level 35.

Should I level fishing with cooking?

Yes. The top of the route is fish, and fish dishes are the buff food raiders buy. Fishing is a secondary profession too, so it costs nothing to have both.

Does cooking use a profession slot?

No. Cooking, Fishing and First Aid are secondary professions and every character can have all three.

Is cooking worth it in WoW Forever?

More than in Classic. Buff food is a raid consumable, and the campfire is the base of the whole camping system.
