Every new WoW Forever dungeon: levels, locations and bosses

Nine new dungeons ship with WoW Forever on 4 November 2026, spread across the whole climb rather than stacked at the cap. Here is the list, the level ranges, where each one is, and where the published record actually stops.

Fact-checked against Blizzard's published details. .

The list

Nine dungeons are new to WoW Forever. The striking thing about the list is its distribution: rather than clustering at the level cap the way modern expansions do, they are spaced across the entire climb from 13 to 60, with two deliberately dropped into the bands where Classic's own dungeon coverage was thinnest.

DungeonLevel rangeWhereWhat is in it
Hall of Thanes13–18Beneath IronforgeDark Iron raiders and restless dead in the dwarven burial hall
Ruins of Lordaeron15–20Tirisfal Glades, outside UndercityScourge and a necromancer in the old capital
Excavation Site: Wetlands24–29Wetlands, above Whelgar's ExcavationTitan constructs and an Explorers' League mystery
City of Dalaran28–33Alterac MountainsA restoration gone wrong: wild magic, constructs, demons
The Drowned City35–40Stranglethorn Vale coastA risen troll city held by trolls, naga and pirates
Krol'dok Stronghold40–45The RivergladesAn ogre stronghold with a cult behind the walls
Alcaz Prison48–53Alcaz Island, Dustwallow MarshDefias inmates and naga fighting each other
Blackmaw Hold55–60AzsharaA furbolg city with a corruption in its depths
The Shaper's Terrace58–60Un'Goro CraterThe Titan facility in the crater's hills

The first two are faction-flavoured in a way the rest are not. Hall of Thanes is inside the Alliance's capital and Ruins of Lordaeron is on the Horde's doorstep, so each is a short walk for one faction and an expedition for the other. There is no cross-faction grouping in Forever, so that trip is made with your own side.

Dungeon experience has been redesigned

The most consequential change to dungeons is not on the list above. Blizzard cut the experience from killing monsters inside dungeons and made dungeon quests worth far more. In the designers' words, the first run through a dungeon is amazing, and going back over and over again is no longer the best way to level. They have said the change is aimed at instance spamming, and at paid dungeon boosting specifically.

The practical consequence is a routine: collect every quest for a dungeon before you go in, clear it once, hand everything in, and move on. A second or third clear is for a particular blue item or a blueprint recipe, and pays very little experience. Anyone selling a chain of repeat runs as a way to level is selling the Classic method in a game that has removed it.

Groups are made the old way. Blizzard has announced no automatic dungeon finder for Forever, so a party forms in a zone or a city and walks to the door, which is part of why a first clear at an awkward hour is something people pay for.

Where the published record stops

Blizzard has released names, level ranges, locations and a line of story for each dungeon. The beta has added real detail for the two lowest: Hall of Thanes has four bosses, Faldrim Anvilmar, Magmatus, Plunder and Durgen Dirgehammer, and Ruins of Lordaeron has six, Witherfang, The Baron, Bjork, Rath'mael, Viktor the Vile and The Abandoned. Beyond that the record thins quickly, because the beta is capped at level 30. Excavation Site comes into reach when the cap rises, City of Dalaran only in part, and the five dungeons from The Drowned City upward have not been played by anyone outside a convention demo. A number of guide pages currently ranking for these terms list bosses for all nine, and those pages will be wrong on 4 November rather than merely incomplete.

One number is worth naming specifically, because you will see two versions of it. Early coverage from BlizzCon listed Krol'dok Stronghold at 40–55. Blizzard corrected that on 15 September 2026: "In WoW: Forever, Krol'dok Stronghold will be for levels 40-45." Pages still showing 40–55 have not been updated since.

What is known about the loot

Two confirmed details shape every dungeon in Forever. Unique dungeon boss items are blue rather than purple, which sets a ceiling on how far any dungeon route can gear a character and makes dungeons progression rather than a jackpot. And blueprint recipes — Blizzard's camping recipes — drop from dungeon bosses, which gives reruns a reason to exist beyond gear.

Together those two facts explain why dungeon services in Forever are priced the way they are: single clears for levelling, rerun chains for recipes, and pre-raid packages at 55+ where the blue ceiling still leaves a gap that only raiding fills.

How the nine fit into a climb

Because they are spread rather than stacked, the new dungeons change levelling routes throughout rather than only at the end. The 20s gain Excavation Site: Wetlands in a band Classic left sparse. The 30s gain The Drowned City. The late 50s gain two instances that stay relevant at the cap and feed straight into the 9 December raid wave.

  1. 13–20: Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron, the first group content most characters buy help with
  2. 24–33: Excavation Site: Wetlands and City of Dalaran, filling the gap where Classic levelling stalls
  3. 35–53: The Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold and Alcaz Prison across the middle of the climb, none of them reachable in the beta
  4. 55–60: Blackmaw Hold and The Shaper's Terrace, the pre-raid pair

Frequently asked questions

How many new dungeons are in WoW Forever?

Nine, spread across the whole climb from level 13 to 60 rather than clustered at the cap.

What is the lowest-level new dungeon?

Hall of Thanes at 13–18. The highest is The Shaper's Terrace at 58–60.

Are the dungeon bosses known?

For two of the nine. The beta shows four bosses in Hall of Thanes and six in Ruins of Lordaeron. The other seven are either not yet reachable in the beta or sit above its level 30 cap, so any boss list you see for them is invented.

Where are the new WoW Forever dungeons?

Hall of Thanes is beneath Ironforge, Ruins of Lordaeron outside Undercity, Excavation Site in the Wetlands, City of Dalaran in the Alterac Mountains, The Drowned City off Stranglethorn Vale, Krol'dok Stronghold in The Riverglades, Alcaz Prison off Dustwallow Marsh, Blackmaw Hold in Azshara and The Shaper's Terrace in Un'Goro Crater.

Is there a dungeon finder in WoW Forever?

Blizzard has not announced one. Groups form in zones and cities and travel to the entrance themselves; a Warlock's summon still works.

Are dungeons still good experience in WoW Forever?

The first clear is. Blizzard cut the experience from dungeon monsters and raised it sharply on dungeon quests, so one run with every quest collected is worth a great deal and repeat runs are worth very little.

Is dungeon loot purple in WoW Forever?

No. Unique dungeon boss items are blue, which caps how far a dungeon route can gear a character and makes raiding the step beyond it.

What are blueprint recipes?

Blizzard's camping recipes, confirmed to drop from dungeon bosses. Which recipes drop from which bosses has not been published.

What level is Krol'dok Stronghold?

40–45. Blizzard confirmed it on 15 September 2026, correcting the 40–55 figure that appeared in early BlizzCon coverage and still circulates.
