Safety & escrow
What we protect, what we cannot protect, and how to reduce your own risk. We would rather tell you the uncomfortable parts up front than have you find them out later.
What escrow does
When you pay, the money goes to Elitist Gaming, not to the seller. It stays with us while the work happens. The seller is paid only after you confirm — or after the auto-confirm window passes with no dispute from you. If you open a dispute first, nothing is released until staff have read the order history and decided.
What escrow does not do
Escrow protects your money, not your game account. Anything that involves another person playing your character, or receiving real-money value for in-game goods, carries a risk of action against your account from the game's publisher. That risk is yours. Sellers here are verified as people we can hold accountable for delivery; nobody can verify away a terms-of-service risk.
Buying gold
Selling in-game gold for real money is against Blizzard's terms of service. It is the highest-risk category on this marketplace, both for account action and for payment fraud. We list it because sellers offer it and buyers look for it, but we do not promote it, and you should understand the exposure before you order.
Self-play versus piloted
A self-play order means you stay at the keyboard and the seller groups with you. A piloted order means you hand over your login. Piloted is faster and usually cheaper; it is also the only kind where someone else has your credentials. Read the listing carefully — sellers state which they are — and prefer self-play if the risk matters to you.
Reducing your risk
- Agree scope in writing, in the order thread, before work starts.
- Use the order thread or the Discord channel rather than private DMs — it is the record staff read in a dispute.
- Never pay outside the platform. A seller asking you to is a seller you have no recourse against, and it is grounds for removal here.
- Check the delivery estimate against the reviews, not just the marketing.
- If something looks wrong, open a dispute before confirming. After confirmation the payment is on its way to the seller.
How disputes are decided
Either party can open a dispute before an order completes. Staff read the whole order history — every status change, every message — and resolve it one of two ways: release the payment to the seller, or refund the buyer. There is no partial split in this version, so the detail you put in the thread is what decides it.
Reporting a problem
If a seller breaks these rules, or you think a review is fake, tell us through the order thread or the dispute form and staff will look at it. Repeat offenders lose their storefront.
