The most interesting wing in the classic list

Dire Maul West holds the Athenaeum and the Shen'dralar, a group of exiled highborne elves who have been sitting in a library under a ruined city since 2004 doing almost nothing with their story. WoW Forever adds Shen'dralas as a new zone tied to them, which is the single clearest example of the new game picking up a thread Classic left hanging. Blizzard has published the connection and not the detail, so what the zone does with the wing remains unknown.

Reputation, books and why this is farmed

The Shen'dralar reputation grind and the library's book turn-ins have kept this wing busy for two decades, and they are the reason West is the Dire Maul wing most often bought as a rerun chain rather than a clear. Forever gives the faction a zone of its own, Shen'dralas, which is the likeliest place for new rewards to appear. The grind does not earn Legacy Points — the only reputations among the launch challenges are the battleground factions — though in the beta's list the three Dire Maul wings count towards the top dungeon challenge.

Scoping it

Say whether you want the clear, the reputation work, or the book chain, because they are different amounts of time and sellers price them separately. Immol'thar and Prince Tortheldrin are the named encounters; the route to them involves handling the crystal generators, which is the part a first-time group gets wrong. Escrow holds until you confirm, and on a reputation order the standing is the cleanest possible definition of done.

Time, and how it is billed

West is the longest of the three wings once reputation work is involved, and it is the Dire Maul order most often quoted by the evening rather than by the run. That structure suits it: book-collecting and reputation are open-ended in a way a clear is not. Agree what the evening is expected to produce — a standing, a number of turn-ins, a clear — because 'an evening in DM West' is a duration rather than a deliverable.
