Which reputations matter in Forever
Reputation has always been a long, repetitive path to a specific reward — a recipe, a mount, a head enchant, access to something gated — and the Classic factions people paid for are all still here: Argent Dawn, Timbermaw Hold, the Cenarion Circle, the Zandalar Tribe. Forever adds new ones with its new zones, Mount Hyjal among them, and those are the grinds with no twenty-year-old guide behind them. One correction to something widely repeated, including on an earlier version of this page: reputation is not a Legacy Challenge category. The launch list of 65 challenges is now visible in the beta, and the only reputations on it are the four battleground factions, one Legacy Point each at Exalted. Every other faction is worth exactly what it rewards.
Scoping a reputation order
Reputation is one of the few farming deliverables that is completely unambiguous: a standing is a number the game displays, and either you have it or you do not. That makes these orders the safest kind to place, provided the standing is written down. 'Get me rep with the faction' is not a scope; 'to Revered with this faction on this character' is. Sellers price per standing tier rather than per hour for exactly that reason, and escrow releases against the standing rather than against elapsed time.
What is not known yet
What the new factions reward. Mount Hyjal and the other new zones are above the beta's level 30 cap, so their reputation vendors have not been seen, and a seller naming a specific reward from one of them is guessing. It is also not known whether any Classic faction's rewards have changed, though Blizzard has reworked dungeon loot and may have done the same here. What can be relied on is the mechanics: a standing is a standing, the beta's Resourcefulness tree has a perk that speeds reputation gain, and the four battleground factions are the ones that also pay a Legacy Point. Order against a reward you have checked exists, not against one you have been told about.

Frequently asked questions
Does reputation count toward Legacy Points?
Only four reputations do: Exalted with each of the battleground factions, for Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley and Darkspear Islands, is one Legacy Point apiece. No other faction is on the launch list of Legacy Challenges.
How should a rep order be scoped?
By target standing on a named character — 'to Revered', not 'some rep'. A standing is a number the game shows, which makes it one of the cleanest deliverables to hold in escrow.
Which reputations are worth buying in WoW Forever?
The ones with a reward you want: the Classic staples such as Argent Dawn and Timbermaw Hold, the new zone factions once their rewards are known, and the battleground factions if you are collecting Legacy Points. Check the reward exists in Forever before you order.
Can I buy reputation on Hardcore?
Not yet. Hardcore arrives after launch with no announced date, so nothing can be farmed there.
Is this self-play or piloted?
Reputation grinding is usually piloted, because it is repetitive work rather than group content. That makes it a category where checking the seller's completed-order history matters more than usual.
