The Deadmines
A Deadmines boost covers the Westfall instance that taught a generation what a dungeon is — the Defias goldmine, the ship in the cavern, and Edwin VanCleef at the end of it.

The Deadmines has a structure that later dungeons spent years imitating: a linear descent through a mine, a foundry, and then a pirate ship built inside a cavern, with a named boss on the deck of it. It is the Alliance's first real dungeon and it is the one most players remember. It also has genuinely good low-level loot, which is unusual for the level band and is a large part of why people still run it repeatedly rather than once.
Cruel Barb, Smite's Mighty Hammer and the Cape of the Brotherhood have been chased since launch, and at 17–26 they are meaningful upgrades rather than curiosities. That makes the Deadmines one of the classic instances where a rerun order is common rather than eccentric — sellers price a chain of clears against a specific drop, and that is a different product from a single run. Say which you want before comparing prices, because the cheap number on this page is usually the single clear.
The instance is unchanged in the sense that it is still there; Blizzard has not published whether classic dungeon level ranges are retuned, so treat 17–26 as Classic's number rather than a guarantee. What has changed is the surrounding game: blueprint recipes drop from dungeon bosses in Forever, and whether any land here is not yet known. A seller promising a named blueprint from VanCleef is guessing.
The instance sits at the western end of Westfall, which for a Horde character in Forever is a genuine expedition rather than a trip — and on the PvP ruleset it is a contested one from start to finish. Alliance characters have it easy by comparison. If you are Horde and looking at a cheap quote, check whether it includes getting you there, because with no flying anywhere in WoW Forever the journey is a real part of the seller's time.
Game facts on this page checked against Blizzard's published details as of 30 September 2026.
Cruel Barb, Smite's Mighty Hammer and the Cape of the Brotherhood are the long-standing targets — real upgrades at that level rather than collectibles, which is why rerun orders are common here.
Check the listing. The cheapest price on this page is usually a single clear, while a chain priced against a specific drop is a different and more expensive job.
Unknown. Blueprint recipes drop from dungeon bosses in WoW Forever but Blizzard has published no drop tables, so a seller naming a specific blueprint from VanCleef is guessing.
17–26 in Classic. Whether Forever retunes classic dungeon ranges is unconfirmed.
