Five cloths, nothing else
First Aid is the simplest profession to kit, because a bandage is cloth and nothing more. The route in our guide uses Linen, Wool, Silk, Mageweave and Runecloth in turn, a little under 600 pieces in all, and the kit is exactly that. There is no thread, no vial and no vendor reagent anywhere on the route, so the mail is everything you need to craft.
Two stops that are not trainers
Two ranks are not trained. Expert First Aid is a 1 gold book, from Deneb Walker in Stromgarde for the Alliance or Balai Lok'Wein at Brackenwall Village for the Horde. Artisan is the quest Triage, from Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen in Theramore or Doctor Gregory Victor at Hammerfall, which needs level 35. The kit gets you to each of those points with the cloth in hand, and the guide tells you when to go.
Why level it at all
Bandages heal without mana, which is why every class in a Classic-style game carries them and why PvP players treat First Aid as compulsory. Most people level it from the cloth that drops while they quest; a kit is for the character already past those zones, or the one that wants it done before the next battleground.
What you are left holding
Levelling First Aid leaves you with a bag full of bandages, every tier from Linen to Heavy Runecloth, and every one of them a heal you do not have to drink for. The route finishes on Heavy Runecloth Bandages, the best bandage in the game, so the last crafts of the kit are the ones worth keeping for raids and battlegrounds.
