Blackrock Spire shares a mountain with Blackrock Depths and a door with itself: Lower and Upper are separate instances reached through the same entrance, with different lockouts, different difficulty and — in Classic — different group sizes. Lower is a five-player dungeon; Upper takes ten in Classic's design, which makes it the only classic instance that sits between dungeon and raid. That structural oddity is why the two are sold separately here.
Upper Blackrock Spire is the top of the classic pre-raid ladder and the traditional final stop before raiding. With WoW Forever's first raid wave opening 9 December 2026 and unique dungeon boss items being blue rather than purple, that position is unchanged — the Spire is still where a character goes to be ready rather than to be geared. Sellers routing pre-raid packages build around it, and it is the most contested classic booking in late November.
Lower if you are in the late fifties and gearing; Upper if you are at 60 and preparing to raid. Buying both in sequence is common and normally quoted as a chain. What Blizzard has not confirmed is whether Forever retunes classic dungeon level ranges or Upper's group size, so treat Classic's numbers as the starting point rather than a promise, and ask a seller who has run it in beta.
Blackrock Mountain holds Blackrock Depths as well as both halves of the Spire, and a seller already running you through one is a short walk from the others. That makes the mountain the single most efficient place to book multiple runs in the fifties, and it is worth asking a seller what else they can fit into the same trip rather than booking each instance as its own journey.
Game facts on this page checked against Blizzard's published details as of 30 September 2026.
Separate instances through the same entrance with different lockouts. Lower is a five-player dungeon in the late fifties; Upper is Classic's ten-player instance at the cap.
Lower while gearing in the late fifties, Upper at 60 when preparing to raid. Sellers commonly quote the two as a chain.
It occupies the same position. With the first raid wave on 9 December 2026 and Forever's blue dungeon item ceiling, the Spire is still where characters go to be raid-ready.
Unconfirmed. Blizzard has not published whether classic dungeon tuning or group sizes change, so Classic's numbers are a starting point rather than a guarantee.
