Questions buyers ask

Does tailoring need a gathering profession?

No. Cloth drops from humanoid mobs rather than from gathering nodes, so tailoring is the one crafting profession that leaves your second slot free — which is why it pairs so often with enchanting.

Is tailoring good for making gold?

It has the steadiest crafting-to-auction pipeline in the game, largely because bags sell continuously to every class and level. It is the profession where buying the boost most obviously pays for itself.

What happens to the gear crafted while levelling?

Decide before you order. A tailoring route produces a pile of intermediate items that can be disenchanted, vendored or mailed to you, and sellers assume different defaults.

Why do tailoring quotes move so much?

Because the entire materials cost is auction-house cloth with no gathering alternative. A price quoted weeks before launch can mean a different amount of money after it.

How a profession boost actually runs

1
Choose the target level
Tell the seller the profession level or recipe you need unlocked, and which mats you're supplying.
2
Mats and grind, handled
The seller works through the levels — using your mats or theirs, whichever you agreed — while you watch it climb.
3
Craft-ready
Confirm once your profession sits at the level you paid for and you can craft what you needed it for.
