Pre-raid preparation for WoW Forever

Thirty-five days from launch to the first lockout, a blue ceiling on dungeon loot, and no published raid data. Here is what can actually be prepared, and what cannot be known yet.

Fact-checked against Blizzard's published details. .

The honest starting point

There is no confirmed best-in-slot list for WoW Forever, and there cannot be one yet. The raid boss names are known, but no loot tables and no encounter mechanics have been published for The Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit or Onyxia's Lair, and the beta tests no raids. Any page presenting a definitive pre-raid BiS list for 9 December 2026 has worked backwards from Classic and hoped.

Working backwards from Classic is less safe than it sounds. Blizzard went back through the loot of every dungeon boss for Forever: unique boss items were raised to blue, new items were added and old ones were changed. The beta client already shows different stats on items that kept their Classic names, and it stops at level 30, so the level 55–60 tables that a pre-raid list is built from have not been seen in their Forever form at all.

What can be prepared is everything that does not depend on that data: getting to 60, filling every slot from known dungeon sources, having professions and consumables sorted, and arriving with a character a raid leader will take. That is a real checklist and it is most of the work.

The blue ceiling

The most important confirmed fact for gearing is that unique dungeon boss items in Forever are blue rather than purple. That sets a hard ceiling on what any dungeon route can produce, and it reframes what pre-raid gearing is for: it gets you invited, not carried.

A seller pitching a dungeon package as a route to raid-quality gear is overselling. A seller who says 'this covers eleven slots to a reasonable standard and here are the three that will still be weak' is describing the actual product.

Where the gear comes from

  • Blackmaw Hold (55–60) and The Shaper's Terrace (58–60) — the two new dungeons that stay relevant at the cap
  • Blackrock Depths, especially a full Emperor run — the densest classic pre-raid loot table in one instance
  • Upper Blackrock Spire — Classic's ten-player instance and the traditional final stop
  • Scholomance and both sides of Stratholme — wide slot coverage across the 55–60 band
  • Dire Maul, whose West wing is also the reputation and book-turn-in destination

Those five cover most of what is obtainable before raiding. None of them is optional if you want a complete list, and none of them individually is enough — which is why pre-raid work is sold as a package priced by slot rather than as a number of dungeon runs.

The rest of the checklist

Gear is the visible part and the part people over-index on. The items below are cheaper, faster and more often forgotten, and a raid leader notices their absence immediately.

  1. Consumables: flasks, elixirs and potions, which are consumed every lockout rather than bought once
  2. Food: cooking at 300 makes raid food free rather than a weekly expense
  3. First aid: an off-cooldown heal every class has, and the cheapest thing on this list
  4. Profession work: whichever of your two primaries actually contributes to your raid role
  5. A written gap list, so the remaining weaknesses are known rather than discovered on the night

The calendar problem

Launch is 4 November and the first lockout is 9 December. Everyone gearing for that lockout wants the same two weeks of late November, which makes pre-raid gearing the most contested delivery window on this marketplace. Booking early does not make the work faster; it buys you a slot in someone's schedule.

When you do book, agree a finish date rather than a duration, and agree the scope by slot rather than by number of runs. Escrow protects the payment until you confirm — it does not protect the date, and on this particular purchase the date is most of what you are buying.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a WoW Forever pre-raid BiS list?

Not a confirmed one. No raid loot tables have been published and Blizzard has reworked dungeon boss loot, so any definitive list for 9 December 2026 is extrapolated from Classic rather than known.

Do Classic pre-raid BiS lists work in WoW Forever?

As a guide to which dungeons matter, mostly. As an item list, no: Blizzard re-examined every dungeon boss's loot, and items that kept their names do not all keep their stats.

Can dungeon gear make me raid-ready?

It can get you invited. Unique dungeon boss items in Forever are blue rather than purple, which caps what any dungeon route can produce.

Which dungeons should I run before raiding?

Blackmaw Hold and The Shaper's Terrace among the new ones; Blackrock Depths, Upper Blackrock Spire, Scholomance, both Stratholme sides and Dire Maul among the classics.

How long do I have to prepare?

Thirty-five days — launch on 4 November 2026 to the first raid lockout on 9 December.

What do people forget?

Consumables, cooking, first aid and profession work. All are cheaper and faster than gear, and all are noticed immediately when missing.

How should I scope a pre-raid order?

By slot rather than by number of runs, with a finish date before 9 December written into the order thread rather than a duration.
