Mount Hyjal in WoW Forever
The mountain that has been visible and unreachable since the game shipped becomes the endgame zone — and the way into two of the three raids opening on 9 December 2026.

What is confirmed
Mount Hyjal is one of four new zones arriving with WoW Forever on 4 November 2026, and it is the endgame one. Blizzard's account is of a forest slowly reviving after Archimonde's death, with the wild gods involved in the recovery and plenty still wrong with the place. The zone has its own questlines, reputations to earn, and both solo and group content, and it is reached through Darkwhisper Gorge, the pass at the southern end of Winterspring.
Hyjal has a long history of being scenery. In the original game the mountain exists on the map, is visible from Winterspring and Felwood, and cannot be entered. Making it a zone is the same kind of move as turning the ruins of Lordaeron and the city of Dalaran into dungeons: taking places players have looked at for two decades and finally putting content in them.
Two raids, one mountain
Two of the three raids that open on 9 December 2026 are here. Hyjal Summit is the 20-player raid, with thirteen encounters, set on the mountain after the battle that ended Warcraft III. The Barrow Deeps is the 10-player raid, with eight encounters, in the tunnel network beneath it where the night elves kept the prisoners they had nowhere else to put. Onyxia's Lair, the third raid, is on the other side of the continent in Dustwallow Marsh.
A raid called the Battle for Mount Hyjal shipped in a later World of Warcraft expansion, accessed through the Caverns of Time and ending at Archimonde. That replayed the battle itself. Forever's Hyjal Summit is set in its aftermath and has its own boss list, so nothing from the older raid should be assumed to carry over.
What this means if you are planning to raid
Because both new raids are entered from Mount Hyjal, a level 60 character will be spending time in the zone before 9 December whether or not an attunement turns out to exist. That is worth building into a plan: the thirty-five days between launch and the raids have to cover the climb to 60, pre-raid gearing, and whatever the zone itself asks of you first.
It is also why the zone's reputations are likely to matter. Sellers are already listing a Mount Hyjal reputation grind, which tells you what they expect, but what the faction rewards has not been shown. Treat any listing that promises a specific reward from it as an estimate, and scope a pre-launch raid booking against the date rather than against an assumed attunement.
This page will change substantially once the zone is live. That is deliberate: a short accurate page now is worth more than a long speculative one, and it is considerably easier to expand than to correct.
Frequently asked questions
Is Mount Hyjal a zone in WoW Forever?
Yes — one of four new zones arriving at launch on 4 November 2026, alongside Zephras Isle, The Riverglades and Shen'dralas.
Is Hyjal Summit the same as the Battle for Mount Hyjal raid?
No. That raid was a later expansion's content and replayed the battle. Forever's Hyjal Summit is a new 20-player raid with thirteen encounters, set on the mountain afterwards.
What level is Mount Hyjal?
Blizzard has described it as an endgame zone without publishing an exact range. It holds two level 60 raids.
Which raids are in Mount Hyjal?
Two of the three opening on 9 December 2026: Hyjal Summit, the 20-player raid, and The Barrow Deeps, the 10-player raid. Whether either needs an attunement has not been announced.
How do you get to Mount Hyjal?
Through Darkwhisper Gorge, at the southern end of Winterspring — the pass that led nowhere in the original game.
