Is WoW Forever the same as WoW Classic Plus?
Short answer: yes. WoW Forever is the game the community spent years calling Classic Plus. The longer answer explains why you will see both names used interchangeably everywhere, including on this site.

Where "Classic Plus" came from
"Classic Plus" was never an official Blizzard product name before WoW Forever was announced. It was a community shorthand, used for years across forums and Reddit, for a hypothetical version of WoW Classic that kept getting new content instead of either re-running the original expansions or moving on to modern retail systems. It described a wish, not a product. For most of that time the only searches it produced were for leaks, rumours and survey results, and a number of fan-run private servers borrowed the label for their own projects.
What Blizzard actually said
At its reveal, Blizzard president Johanna Faries confirmed the connection directly, telling the crowd "this is Classic Plus" as the reveal cinematic ended. WoW Forever is Blizzard's own realised version of that community wish: a permanent level-60 game with new dungeons, new zones, a new race, and content that keeps shipping on a roadmap rather than a one-off expansion. That is why the terms resolve to the same game, and why sellers and guides across this niche use "WoW Forever," "WoW Classic Plus," and "Classic+" as the same search intent.
What the "plus" turned out to be
The original world is all still there. What Forever adds on top of it is more than most of the old wish-lists asked for:
- Nine new dungeons spread across the whole climb, from Hall of Thanes under Ironforge at 13–18 to The Shaper's Terrace in Un'Goro Crater at 58–60.
- Two new raids and one returning one, opening together on 9 December 2026: The Barrow Deeps at ten players, Hyjal Summit at twenty and Onyxia's Lair at forty.
- Four new zones: Zephras Isle, The Riverglades, Mount Hyjal and Shen'dralas.
- A new race, the Skyborne, playable on both factions, and six new class and race combinations including Dwarf Shamans and Undead Paladins.
- The Legacy System: 65 account-wide challenges whose points each character spends across three trees.
- Camping, a new system that gives every profession something to build at a campfire, and an optional transmog system.
- No realms. You choose a ruleset — Normal, PvP or Roleplaying — instead of a server.
The side-by-side is in WoW Forever vs WoW Classic.
What it is not
It is not Season of Discovery, which is a seasonal take on Classic, and it is not a patch to the existing Classic realms. It is a separate version of the game with its own characters. It is also not any of the private servers that have called themselves Classic Plus. And it is not a game with shortcuts for sale: Blizzard has said Forever launches with no WoW Token and no paid character boost, and has no plans for either.
When it launches, and what it costs
WoW Forever launches 4 November 2026 at 3:00 PM PST and is included with a normal World of Warcraft subscription. The beta has been running since 17 September 2026 and ends in late October; it is capped at level 30 and nothing in it carries over. Optional upgrade packs start at $29.99 and add the Skyborne race, an early window to reserve a character name, and cosmetics. The dates are collected in the release date guide.
What that means for buying a boost
Nothing changes about the service itself — a "Classic Plus leveling boost" and a "WoW Forever leveling boost" are the same order. Our WoW Forever hub lists every category — leveling, dungeons, raids, PvP, professions, farming, coaching and gold — from verified sellers, whichever name you searched. One thing is different from Classic, and worth knowing before you buy: Blizzard moved dungeon experience from the monsters to the quests, so the old method of levelling by running the same dungeon over and over no longer works, and a seller offering it is quoting for the wrong game.
What is confirmed vs. still unannounced
The level cap of 60, the rulesets, the nine dungeons and where they are, the raid sizes and boss names, the Skyborne and their classes, and the full list of Legacy Challenges are all known. What Blizzard has not announced yet includes the honor needed for each PvP rank, whether an Arena mode is coming at all, a date for the Hardcore ruleset, and how any of the raid encounters work. We'd rather say "not announced" than invent a detail to fill a page — several competitor "guides" in this space state specifics as fact that Blizzard has never confirmed, and that gets it wrong for you at the exact moment it matters, right before you pay for something.
